Built in 1950 by Chester E. Lewis, the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook is one of the few surviving examples of the iconic "Wigwam Villages" designed by Frank Redford. These concrete and stucco teepee-shaped cabins became a quintessential symbol of mid-century American road trip culture.
Today, guests can still book a night in one of the fifteen individual teepees, which are arranged in a U-shape around the main office. The property functions as a living museum, featuring vintage classic cars permanently parked in front of the rooms to complete the 1950s aesthetic.
While the interiors have been updated with modern conveniences like air conditioning, they retain their original handmade hickory furniture. It remains a beloved, nostalgic stopover for travelers exploring the historic stretches of Route 66.
