Noah Purifoy, an influential African American artist and co-founder of the Watts Towers Arts Center, spent the last fifteen years of his life creating this ten-acre outdoor museum. After moving to the Mojave Desert in 1989, he began constructing large-scale assemblages entirely from discarded materials, junk, and found objects.
