Hokitika Driftwood Sign

Hokitika, West Coast

Crafted almost entirely from weathered branches, logs, and debris washed up on the wild shores of the Tasman Sea, this massive landmark spells out the town's name in rustic fashion. It serves as an evolving community art installation and a beloved coastal photo stop. Because the tides and local beachcombers constantly reshape the materials, the sign is never quite the same twice.
